Oleg Berezin, CEO of Nevafilm, has presented the report Digital Cinema in Russia: Status of 2D/3D DC rollout at EUROPEAN 3D STEREO MEDIA SUMMIT 12.2010 From 8 to 10 December 2010 the second EUROPEAN 3D STEREO MEDIA SUMMIT was held in Liege, Belgium. The event included a conference dedicated to the development of 3D technology. CEO of Nevafilm, Oleg Berezin was a guest speaker and presented the report Digital Cinema in Russia: Status of 2D/3D DC rollout, which focused on the effect of 3D technology on the development of the Russian digital cinema market. Despite the fact that stereoscopy remains the primary incentive for cinemas to go digital, an abundance of 3D films has negative consequences: ‘blockbusterisation’ is a growing trend in Russia and it is becoming increasingly difficult for independent films to break onto the digital screen. Moreover the average box office for 3D screenings is steadily falling, and viewers are increasingly expressing dissatisfaction about the price of tickets for 3D films, especially when quality does not always meet expectations.
